The Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen, named in honor of the late Drew Jones, is a vibrant addition to the Ruston Farmers Market, made possible by a generous grant from the Ruston Lincoln Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).
Opened on May 28th, 2024, this kitchen embodies Drew’s legacy of dedication to our community. It serves as a hub for culinary education, offering a range of classes from hands-on cooking workshops to free educational sessions.

Girl Scout Cookies Cake 101
Join us on April 23rd from 6–8 PM for Girl Scout Cookie Cake Decorating at the Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen, led by Aileen from Aileen’s Sweet Shop!
In this fun, hands-on class, Aileen will guide participants through decorating a cake using everyone’s favorite Girl Scout cookies. You’ll learn simple decorating techniques and creative ways to incorporate cookies into your design.
Participants will decorate their own cake during the class and take it home to enjoy and share. Leave with new skills and a sweet, cookie-covered creation!


Taste of Nepal: Momo Making
Join us on April 9th from 6–8 PM for Taste of Nepal: Momo Making at the Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen!
In this hands-on class, participants will learn how to make traditional Nepali momos from scratch—from preparing the dough to crafting flavorful fillings and mastering classic folding techniques. You’ll also explore proper steaming methods and simple accompaniments, including a delicious dipping sauce. Whether you’re new to dumpling-making or looking to refine your skills, this class will give you the confidence to recreate this beloved Himalayan dish at home.
Classic Italian Tiramisu
Join us on May 7th from 6–8 PM for Classic Italian Tiramisu at the Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen!
In this hands-on class, participants will learn how to create an authentic Italian tiramisu from scratch with Elisa Castagnola. From preparing the perfect mascarpone cream to layering espresso-soaked ladyfingers, you’ll master the techniques that make this beloved dessert so rich and timeless. You’ll also learn tips for balancing flavors, achieving the ideal texture, and presenting your tiramisu beautifully. Knife Skills
& Basics
Join us on May 14th from 6–8 PM for Knife Skills & Basics at the Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen, led by board member Desi Bourgeois!
In this hands-on class, Desi will guide participants through essential knife techniques and foundational kitchen skills every home cook should know. You’ll learn how to properly hold and handle a knife, practice basic cuts such as dicing, slicing, and julienning, and gain confidence in safe, efficient food preparation.
Whether you’re new to cooking or looking to sharpen your skills, this class will provide practical techniques you can use in your everyday kitchen. Leave with greater confidence, improved knife skills, and tips to elevate your cooking at home!
Grilled Shrimp Essentials
Join us on May 21st from 6–8 PM for Grilled Shrimp Essentials at the Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen, led by Kay Walker!
In this hands-on class, Kay will guide participants through making Kaybaby’s signature marinated grilled shrimp, along with a smoked summer rice dish and grilled lettuce with Caesar dressing. You’ll learn simple techniques for building flavor and mastering the grill.
Perfect for all skill levels, this class will help you gain confidence in creating fresh, summer-inspired meals at home.


Kids Gourmet Chocolate Lava Cake
Join us on May 28th from 6–8 PM for Kids Gourmet Chocolate Lava Cake at the Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen, led by Aileen’s Sweet Shop!
Designed for kids ages 6 and up, this fun, hands-on class guides young chefs through making chocolate lava cakes from scratch. Participants will learn basic baking skills, mix their own batter, and discover how to create the gooey molten center.
Kids will also get creative with toppings and presentation while building confidence in the kitchen and enjoying a sweet dessert they made themselves.
