The Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen, named in honor of the late Drew Jones, is a vibrant addition to the Ruston Farmers Market, made possible by a generous grant from the Ruston Lincoln Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).
Opened on May 28th, 2024, this kitchen embodies Drew’s legacy of dedication to our community. It serves as a hub for culinary education, offering a range of classes from hands-on cooking workshops to free educational sessions.

Hungarian Mushroom Soup
Join us for a community, hands-on cooking class and cozy up this fall with a bowl of rich, comforting flavor in our Hungarian Mushroom Soup Class, led by Mr. Maggio from Fungilato, on Tuesday, November 4, from 6–7 p.m.
In this interactive session, you’ll learn how to make a creamy, flavorful mushroom soup. Mr. Maggio will guide you step-by-step—from prepping your produce to building deep, earthy flavors that make this dish a true seasonal favorite.Each participant will get to enjoy a bowl of soup in class. Come for an evening of cooking, connection, and cozy fall flavors—no experience required!
Greek Stuffed
Grape Leaves 101
Join us for a hands-on cooking class and experience the vibrant flavors of Greece in Greek Stuffed Grape Leaves 101, led by Adoula Stavropoulou, on Thursday, November 6, from 6–8 p.m. In this interactive session, you’ll learn the art of making traditional Greek stuffed grape leaves filled with savory herbs, rice, and aromatic seasonings. Adoula will guide you step-by-step—from preparing the filling to rolling each leaf perfectly—for a dish that’s both comforting and full of Mediterranean charm.


Make & Bake
Kids' Pizza
Have your kids join us on Friday, November 8, from 10–11 a.m. for a fun and interactive Make & Bake: Kids’ Pizza Class! Perfect for ages 8 and up, this hands-on session will take place during the Ruston Farmers Market and let young chefs roll, top, and bake their own personal pizzas while learning simple kitchen skills in a friendly, engaging setting.
Parents are required to buy a ticket for themselves and stay with their child for the class.
Chips & Dips
Join us on November 11th from 6–7 pm for a fun and flavorful evening with Taqueria El Padrino, as they guide you through making creamy guacamole, melty queso, and zesty salsa from scratch! You’ll learn the secrets behind these classic favorites and enjoy the perfect combination of dips with every crunchy bite.
It’s the perfect way to spend an hour with friends, pick up new skills, and savor delicious snacks made with simple, fresh ingredients.


Kitchen Skills 101
Join us for an unforgettable experience at the Ruston Farmers Market for a Kitchen 101 class Led by the esteemed Chef Desi Bourgeois, recently recognized as one of "The Top 10 Chefs to Watch" by Louisiana Cooking Magazine, this class is your gateway to mastering essential kitchen skills. In Kitchen Skills 101 you'll learn fundamental techniques and insider tips to elevate your kitchen experience.
Art of Cupcakes
4 Kids
Join us for a fun and creative evening in the Art of 4 Cupcakes class on Tuesday, November 18, from 6–7 p.m. Designed for kids ages 8 and up, this hands-on class will let young bakers explore their artistic side while learning decorating techniques like piping, frosting, and adding colorful finishing touches to their cupcakes. Instructor Harleigh will guide participants step-by-step to create treats that look just as amazing as they taste.
